We were debating whether to go north or south. But to the north there is a low pressure system with high winds and big seas so to keep the boat safe it is better to go south. And if we went north we would have had upwind conditions to the end which is not good for the training for the Vendée Globe we want to sail in downwind conditions and so the south is the better option in those terms.
We have the Code Zero and full main up and are about to go to A3. When the winds are a bit easier we will go for the big kite.
The boat feels better upwind, the boat foils at a lower speed now and it feels like a new boat, but we are looking forward to downwind sailing.
First ocean race with two people, not solo
We have a good team work. We speak English and French and communicate well, we laugh at the same jokes and talk about pas experiences at sea. And after four or five days now it is getting better all the time, we are a good team. Thierry is really good.
The boat has no real problems, I want to thank the whole tech team for having the whole boat prepp’d so well. And we are looking forward to the upcoming conditions towards Martinique but right now the wind is very, very unstable with 30 degrees shifts. Sometimes it is 10 knots and sometimes 20 so we accelerate very quickly.”
